Lifespan Religious Education
Overview
The religious community is essential, for alone our vision is too narrow to see all that must be seen. Together, our vision widens and strength is renewed.
~Mark Morrison Reed
The Northern New England District encourages and supports lifespan faith formation. Guided by our Unitarian Universalist Principles and drawing from the rich sources of our living tradition, the district’s program consultant and lay consultants provide resources, workshops, and consultation to congregations, religious educators, ministers, youth advisors, young adults and elders.
Formation of faith, of which religious education is a part occurs best in the context of a caring and multigenerational community, one which challenges each person and yet supports each person.
The depth of our deep joy and learning is expressed in these words from the UU hymnal, Singing the Living Tradition:
Touch the earth, reach the sky! Children ask the reasons why. In our lives the answers show,
and by our love they learn and grow.
