Resources Needed to Create and Maintain Your Choice of Media

Skill –Leaders of congregations tend to choose media based on who is available with what skills. It is often assumed that accessing print media requires no skill and that new media requires unimaginable skills. Neither assumption is accurate.

Your congregation may benefit from the professionally created UU advertising available through "Purchasing Media."

Money –Costs involve acquiring computer and acquiring and maintaining internet access, paying a web master, and buying (or renting) equipment for creating a Podcast or YouTube. Costs may also include ads for more traditional media. On the chart below, “lower and higher” are cost relative to the other media forms on this chart, print being the cheapest and web potentially (but not necessarily) being the most expensive.

Time – Plan to either spend time or pay someone else to spend time to set up and maintain a web site. Plan to spend time to keep up with Blogging since the most effective sites tend to have someone responding to input from readers.
