FAQ’s about Professional Ministry
Are small congregations finding ministers?
Yes, and of course it depends on a lot of factors. Many small congregations are thinking outside the box for ways to invite or maintain professional ministry.
Our UUA Transitions Office can help you with your search.
How do we go about finding less than full time professional ministry?
Your District staff may be aware of individuals in search of congregational settings such as yours, or other congregations that might be interested in sharing resources. In any case, start with your District Staff. (The UUA Transitions Office works with congregations looking for ¾ time to full time ministry in which the congregation offers % of fair compensation.)
District Staff assist congregations looking for less than ¾ time ministry or offering less than % of fair compensation.

Seminarians who wish to serve a congregation in a paid capacity while they attend seminary are strongly advised to contact both the Distirct Staff and David Pettee dpettee@uua.org in order to remain in good stead for ministerial credentialing.
